She couldn’t have imagined a more boring drive then this. Eyes looked out at the rather plain and original terrain. A tree, bushes, tree! Grass, tree! Tree, ok she had to stop looking outside before she went insane. Sighing heavily she looked towards the driver’s seat and couldn’t help but giggle. Adrian, her older brother and hopefully the new teacher drove not only carefully, but he was so focused his tongue slipped out at one side. ”You look funny, anything you have on your, oh I don’t know, tongue?” The way she pressured on the last word made him snap out of it, he leaned back and relaxed his whole body. Taking on a “cool” act and winked at her. Oh please, I heard you laugh at me you brat. I know you’re bored, but just hang in there a little more ok? Just three more minutes. The female rolled her blue tinted eyes and smiled at him. Putting her long hair in a high ponytail she found her book and opened it on her bookmarked page. Might as well kill some time while waiting.
As they drove down the road towards the Academy’s barn she never really noticed the horses, her eyes were locked on the book, until she felt the movement of the silver Ford park and the engine getting turned off. Eyes blinked a couple of times until she shut the book easily. Without one minute hesitation the teen grinned at her older brother and opened the door, jumped out and went straight to the large trailer hooked on the back of the car. She heard the blowing of two horses, one was a heavy snort the other was just a sigh of relief and she giggled once more. They had brought a weird combination, but she would never let that bother her, because she was not going to fool around with anyone.
The movement of Adrian coming towards her made Roselyn turn and smile, they unlocked the back of the trailer and let the ramp go down, only to reveal two different butts. Both were masculine and well formed, the only huge difference was, well the color. To the left was a palomino colored butt while on the other side, a complete solid black one. Two horse heads tried to look behind and neighed softly to their owners, the sibling pair grinned at each other before they went inside the trailer and fetched each of their horses. The palomino backed down first, walking carefully but with pride, holding her head up high and snorted only lightly when she looked out at her new home. There was a name tag on her blanket, stitched in silver colored thread there was a name stated. “Sorry Sorry Answer.” The older male patted his horse proudly, Answer would always be her brothers favorite, the palomino Warmblood was a great jumper and dressage horse, and being only an eight year old, there were still more results to come.
Looking at the other pair Rose shook her light head and clicked her tongue. The smaller horse backed down as well, the steps were rougher however, proud yes, but more dominant and strong. He was a magnificent animal, being only sixteen point one hands tall he was still so proud. His ebony coat shimmered in the sun and his Spanish blood ran through his veins. Streamer was his nickname, but on his blanket as well was his name written. “Stuck in the Stream,” the stallion snorted and watched carefully around, taking in everything until his eyes were set upon Answer, ears twisted for a minute until a heavy sigh was released, and he was still a little tired. The six year old stallion shook his massive skull and neighed loudly making his entrance known. He was rewarded with a laugh from his owner until both lead their horses inside their stall. Answer had gotten her pass and was placed in her stall.
Rose watched as her brother led the large seventeen point two hands tall mare inside her stall, and waited until the horse was secured before she went to the opposite stall. She had been lucky to get such a big stall, it fitted to Streamer’s personality. Tucking him inside the stall, she closed the door after taking off his halter and went straight to the trailer. She wanted to get the tack inside as soon as possible before she would take a little tour while her brother settled in at the apartment or wherever he was going to live. Going back and forth at least five times she checked that everything was there before fetching her bag and waved bye to her brother. As soon as he was gone her smile vanished and she became calm and cold.
She had always been someone else when her brother wasn’t there, and she would remain that way. She walked back into the stall, put on the halter onto her horse’s head, not really caring if he should settle in; he was already restless either way and lead him out. The seventeen year old mounted her horse outside of the barn and nudged him into a smooth walk, towards an open area with trees and some grass for the stallion. ”Well looks like it’s just you and me today boy. Think you can handle that?” The horse snorted softly as an answer to her question and she giggled. He was such a good boy, and he was her boy.
She dismounted before the tree and took the long lead rope between her footing and the ground. The black stallion started grazing rather calmly and she took out her book again. Opening it she began reading, but felt how the breeze was caressing her chin lightly. If every day would be like this, then she would love it here. But that was just a dream, nothing more, but a dream. But there she was, sitting there reading her book, with the stallion beside her without a care in the world. But maybe she should start worrying, because someone can suddenly come and surprise her, right?

So it had been an interesting day already it seemed he was on the wrong side of the disciplinary officer which might come to bite him on the ass later on not that he was worried about that. His classes were boring as you would expect after all, what’s school for if not to bore the crapper out of the minors forced to attend. It was a relief to walk out of his final class for the day and walk across the campus toward the stables where he would be meeting his first horse.
He had never been aloud to have a horse before but when he got into this school his dad had conceded and brought him one. Mainly because equestrian was part of the curriculum and his dad was one of those who thought it was weak to use other people things, thought it made people seem poor so he insisted that Dean get his own horse, and let me tell you he didn’t bother arguing.
As he walked to the stables, enjoying the sun as if beat down on his bare shoulders as he was wearing his normal sleeveless top and a pair of comfy old well worn jeans. The sounds of his boots crunching on the gravel beneath his feet as he walked.
He saw the truck and trailer pull up as he drew closer recognising the logo on the side of the company his parents had hired to bring his new stallion to the school. He broke into a light jog getting there slightly sooner, eager to see the horse he was going to get to ride and care for. He reached the truck as the driver was getting out and soon was at the back with the older man. Watching eagerly as the black was lowered to reveal the dappled rear end of his stallion.
Hearing the noise behind him the stallion looked around flicking his black tail and staring out the back of the trailer at the two men there, having new owners was nothing new for this stallion. Dean walked up the ramp and walked through to the front to meet Persephone as the guy told him that was the horses name. Reaching up he gently stroked the stallion’s features, a huge grin on his own, he had waited a long time to get his own horse and he couldn’t believe that it had finally happened.
Taking up the lead rope he delighted in how easily the stallion took the command to back up as he easily made his way backward down the ramp. Hooves connecting with the gravel base below, stomping slightly, orbs scanned his new home as Dean lead him toward the stables. Meanwhile the truck driver was already getting ready to head on his way.
After leading Perry into the stables and getting him settled in his stall Dean was antsy, he wanted to see how Perry rode and he didn’t particularly want to wait until tomorrow when he was properly settled in he knew he should but… Persephone looked pretty content he wasn’t stressing at all what would be the harm. A grin broke over his features as he went and grabbed the riding gear he had brought with him and stashed in the tack room prior to his horses arrival.
In no time at all he was back in the stall and had a very patient Perry all set for a ride, the horse was eagre too, it had been a long ride here in that trailer and he wanted to stretch his legs. Before long he lead Perry back out of the stalls and vaulted gently onto his back sitting comfortably in the saddle he urged the stallion into a walk toward the open area with tree’s and grass. Perry didn’t need a lot of urging either he was more then happy to go on into the field of grass.
Dean barely noticed a thing as he sat atop his stallion too over come with the joy of finally having a horse of his own to realise they were heading toward another stallion and sitting on the ground all but hidden from view a young girl reading.

The day hadn’t been too hot today, and as she read on she felt how the horse tensed up playfully then relaxed, and suddenly his head would go up and down. He was restless, but she didn’t really want to take a ride, at least not yet. Her brother would kill her if she got Streamer hurt the first day they arrived. It reminded her of the first time she got the Spanish horse home. She nagged on Adrian wanting to ride the beautiful animal. In the end she got a no, and was mad at him the rest of the day. But later that night the young teen snuck out of the house and tried riding him, but it failed completely needless to say. First thing that happened was that she got kicked off the horse, and the horse ran away. He was found two days later lazily grazing by a river nearby with a little blood on his hoof but no serious injuries.
She had learned her lesson after that and even though she knew better now and knew her horse better, she wouldn’t want him to get hurt once again, so riding him was a no, no. However, as she got further into the book she could feel a complete tension on the lead rope. Raising her eye brow a little she bookmarked it and closed the book, put it back where she had taken it out from her bag and looked at Streamer. The black Andalusian had his head up high, nostrils flared and ears twisting. He smelled another horse. Taking the lead rope in her hand, Lynny walked over to her stallion and stroke him without looking at the direction. ”Easy boy, come here.”
Streamer snorted heavily and suddenly neighed, ears flattened as a light threat but nothing more. Turning around she noticed what he had been so uptight about. There was a pair heading straight towards them. No wonder he was acting that way. She held her palm upon his neck trying to soothe him before she decided to be an ass. One thing pissing this girl off was being ignored; sure she understood that when riding you could be in your own little pink world. But that was no excuse in heading straight towards someone else. Puffing her chest forward the young seventeen year old didn’t really yell. Just shouted, a little too loud, for a horse’s taste. ”Hey idiot!? Watch where you’re riding!” Eyes were narrow as she watched the other pair. The horse was a beauty, an appaloosa colored as well, but still. The day just kept on getting worse huh? Streamer got agitated as she shouted right beside him, he blew a little nervously and unsure, twisting his ears and moved around restlessly. The sixteen point one hands tall horse pawed the ground. She tried to hush him with some words and finally got the horse calm enough to start nibbling at the grass. She didn’t need a nervous stallion trying to make a run for it, so instead just crossed her arms waiting for an answer from the other person, whoever he was, not that she cared. She just felt like having an excuse so act like a well behaved, b*tch.

Dean was enjoying the freedom of the ride and the sweet freedom of knowing here he wouldn’t get scolded for riding his father wasn’t here to tell him that he was a pansy for wanting to ride horses, barking at him that real men don’t prance around on horses, they play football. Yes there was none of that here, at this school everyone rode and everyone worked hard to become the best riders that they could and he planed on working even harder then the rest.
His horse began to rear and carry on before the shout reached his ears as he fought to regain control of his new stallion. Its shrill whinny echoed around the grounds as its hooves connected with the ground once more before they were thrown up pawing at the air again. This time Dean lost his grip and fell to the ground just managing to roll out of the way before he got trampled.
Rid of the weight and controlling influence Persephone took off to the other side of the field as to where the shout had come from and stood facing the girl and the stallion pawing at the ground nervously. His ears twitching listening and waiting too see if the sound came again. Meanwhile Dean lay in a heap on the ground, he groaned slightly as he rolled over facing the bright blue sky and blinking the dust from his eyes.
As he lay there panting for breath slightly winded from his fall it took a moment for what had happened to register. He had been riding along quite happily what had gone so wrong? What was it that caused his new Stallion to react so? Then he remembered the yell that had met his ears and he realised that someone had yelled startling the stallion, both of them had been in somewhat of a daze, Dean happy to own a horse finally and Persephone enjoying being able to stretch his legs after the long journey that neither had taken enough attention of their surroundings. Naturally being a new environment the shout had been to much for Perry and he had panicked.
Well time to look after the spooked horse, Dean thought as he thought he finally had control of his breathing he gingerly got to his feet and glanced around for his Horse. His eyes first fell on a different horse standing beside a girl he couldn’t make out properly but giving her a piece of his mind wasn’t at the top of his priority list at the moment. Though it was pretty high up there don’t get me wrong, instead he kept scanning and spotted the Appaloosa coloured stallion on the opposite side to the girl looking very on edge.
With a sigh that made him catch his chest and take a few shallow breaths he started out slowly toward the stallion speaking in soft soothing words, his hand clutched to his chest, where with each step he could feel a stabbing pain, and tasted blood in his mouth, great, looked to him like he had pierced his diaphragm with his stupid floating ribs again.
Damage from a football accident years ago the doctors had told him that his lower ribs had become slightly detached from the rest. Causing them to ‘float’ as they put it in terms so he could understand, basically it meant that if he twisted the wrong way or fell with force it wasn’t uncommon for them to pierce something and this time it felt like his diaphragm. Causing the walk over to Perry and breathing to be very difficult but this wasn’t the first time it had happened.
It was like Persephone sensed that he had over reacted and caused his new owner harm, as he started out to meet the boy half way, resting his head on the boys shoulder in a motion that seemed to say sorry. Dean stretched up a hand to scratch the Stallions neck gently, finding an itchy spot and caused the Stallion to nicker with pleasure as it was eased.
Dean smiled through the pain pleased that he seemed to be getting on with his new friend so quickly he had always been good with animals, his mother used to say it was a gift of his. He never held much merit in the idea though, however he did like that he was able to make friends with animals pretty quickly.
Once he was sure the stallion was calmed down enough he took hold of the lead rope and walking he started out toward the girl who had caused the issue. He knew there was no point trying to mount the horse in this condition, in all honesty he should just head back to the stable it was after all closer but he wasn’t thinking of the smart thing to do he was thinking of giving this girl a piece of his mind.
He waited till he was close enough that he wouldn’t have to yell as she had done and scare the horses any more then they were, besides by the time he was that close he was out of breath again and clutched at his ribs looking at the ground fist clenched around the reigns as he fought for control, one thing he had beat into him was that men did not show that they were in pain especially not in front of women.
“What do you think you were playing out, yelling like that, you do realise that horses are skittish to loud noises right? Next time you might consider getting someone’s attention in a quieter fashion.”
He said with slight venom in his voice, though his voice was barely more then a whisper as he fought to keep the pain he was feeling out of it. He didn’t want to stay here arguing regardless and he didn’t want excuses, turning from her he started slowly back toward the stable, it was going to be a slow painful walk but he had a pretty high pain threshold so he had faith that he could manage it.

Her eyes where cold as she watched the whole scene, Streamer flinched a little but only went around himself before he calmed down again, the other horse however reared up and went straight to the opposite side of her. Oh well, they had ruined her good mood so this was her way of “paying” him back. Sighing deeply Roselyn raised an eyebrow as the boy seemed to limp, oh seriously, was he a wimp? Never thought of the option that his injured Rose? Pah! If his injured then his so a wimp! Fine by me, you’re the boss. Damn straight I am. Oh god, I can’t believe I’m stuck with you. Then stop discussing with me sweetie. She sighed heavily but noticed that the young boy suddenly came towards her. Listening to his words she couldn’t help but snort and laugh. ”Well I guess if you could handle your horse better then you wouldn’t have fallen off. Or let me guess, you were daydreaming about riding your pretty show pony so you thought you were the king of the world? Spare it to someone who actually listens, because unless you wake up and won’t try to ride at others then don’t come lecturing me pretty boy.”
As she watched the back of the blonde rather handsome guy and his stallion before getting her pack and bag over her shoulder. The black stallion breathed a little nervously and flicked his ears before she got to him, soothing him down and felt how his muscles relaxed more. She mounted him easily, felt how he moved to adjust his balance again, when the whole ordeal happened in a second. It felt like the world turned around and then it went completely, blank. She was just nudging him forward and then made the stallion turn to the opposite direction of the other pair. She let the Andalusian get his head and got him to a brisk walk. None of them noticed the little mouse that was passing, but the horse felt it first. The sudden feeling of something light and weird suddenly brushing and running over his legs made the ebonite horse rear heavily.
Rose was paying her attention on him, but a tad too late so to say. As he reared Streamer neighed out and bailed out kicking the young female off, she fell on her front, which made her breath get crushed and her mind black. The horse on the other hand in panic ran straight without looking. The lead rope flung underneath his belly suddenly hitting him and he started bucking before finally disappearing in the woods of the land leaving the seventeen year old on the ground unconscious and without any breath. Just the total darkness surrounding both of them, any help people?

Dean wasn’t usually the type to get cranky with girls at least not to their faces, he didn’t like to start things with girls, not that sort of thing anyway. Which was the main reason he started to walk away he didn’t want to get into this too much and he almost regretted coming over here to begin with he should have walked away to begin with. He paused as she shot back at him accusing him of not knowing how to control his horse, true she was probably right he didn’t know this horse too well, after all this was the first time he had ridden Persephone but still wasn’t it common sense not to yell out with horses around. This was a riding school after all and there were beginners around.
Taking a calming breath he went to turn around and head back to give her another piece of his mind but she was already mounted and heading in the other direction. Shrugging to himself he went to turn and head back to the stables he could still taste the blood that rose up in his throat. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the other horse rear up in fear, he wasn’t sure what had caused it this time, no one had shouted and he couldn’t see any obvious reason and Perry was calm next to him this time. Brow furrowed in slight confusion, the next instant he saw the girl hit the ground hard, and she didn’t seem to be stirring at all.
“Oh Crap”
He muttered under his voice rushing over to her wincing at the stabbing pain in his chest, quickly he secured the reigns of his stallion to a nearby tree before he collapsed next to the girl. Squeezing her shoulder gently he didn’t know her name so he couldn’t call that out to see if she could respond so he had to settle for the generic ‘can you hear me’. She seemed to be unconscious and having trouble breathing but he wasn’t the right person to be helping her he didn’t know about this stuff, and he was afraid to move her in case he made things worse.
Where was help that was actually helpful when you needed it, the best he could think of doing was to run to the stables and get help but he was in no fit state to run and he didn’t want to just leave her out here with no help what so ever. Then he had a brain wave, what an idiot he thought to himself, for not thinking of it earlier, he pulled his cell phone out of his jeans pocket, naturally it was on silent since you weren’t supposed to have phones in class and around horses loud ring tones not so smart.
He had to enter out of the notices that had popped up telling him he had missed 3 calls and had 5 messages waiting for him but he wasn’t thinking of reading them now and didn’t even take note of who they were from, scrolling through his contacts list he found the number for the school and rang the front office.
“Just hold on I’m going to get some help out here”
He said to the unconscious girl as he waited for the ringing to stop getting impatient for someone to answer the phone, finally a female voice came over the line sounding professional but I little over it at the same time. She started the usual greeting, you know the one, Good afternoon you’ve reached Firefly Fields Academy this is …, but he barely let her say Good afternoon before interrupting her.
“I’m out in the paddocks, a girl has fallen off her horse and is unconscious we need help, we are in the one closest to the stables.”
He spoke quickly though a little out of breath, the girl on the other line took control and started telling him not to move her in case there was internal damage, like he didn’t already know that. Why did the dumb thing think he had rung the school instead of carting her there himself, what was she blond or something!
“I know that which is why I’m calling can you just get some help out here!”
He said and hung up on her not in the mood to deal with idiots on the phone and turned his attention back to the girl he felt bad for going off at her before but there wasn’t much he could do about it now just try and make sure the girl got help.

She couldn’t remember what was worse, to actually get thrown of the horse she had trained since she bought him from the breeder, or the fact that she fell off the horse as well as him. Embarrassing! She heard his voice faintly in her own little darkness. Her new world which was completely dark, was this the way she wanted to live? No chance! Was she going to do something about it? Hell yeah! Rose heard his voice grow stronger and stronger, how he argued with someone, but she couldn’t understand who. The headache came all of a sudden and she felt herself take a deep breath and started coughing. Slowly but surely she pushed her body up from the ground trying to take small breaths at a time before she felt confident enough to sit up, her palm went straight to her head even before her lips spoke. ”Ouch, my head hurts.”
Eyes fluttered slowly revealing her soft grey & blue mixed color before closing her eyes shut again. Leaning back a little the female let her weigh ponder upon her right hand at the ground, it rang a little in her head before she could finally let her eyes open. This time she looked at the worried male, but wasn’t going to yell at him, he had been a good guy so she felt bad for yelling. But just as she was going to tell him that she was sorry for what she had done, Roselyn looked around. No black horse, no sad Andalusian, no, Streamer. Teen went from soft tanned to pale in a split second, rose without caring about getting dizzy, she stumbled a little but yelled at the top of her lounges, not as loud thought, but loud enough. ”Streamer!? Where are you damn it! Did you see where my horse went!? Did you!?”
Without even waiting for an answer her words slipped without thought. She was going to be nice, but the panic of losing the horse was too piled up in apologizing, she would probably apologize, later on, when she had found the horse. ”You know what, forget it! I’ll look for him myself; if I don’t find him my brother will kill me! You know how expensive he is!? It took me a year to even get half of what he is worth!” Words where dead cold and panic struck as she went around, this could not happen! She could already remember the name of Streamer’s father Amistad SL, a multi national champion. And his mother Donatella, she had been looking all over the place for a foal by that stallion. She had only had him for three years and he was gone!? Typical her, just typical!
Not that she had to bother about the guy, but it was just common courtesy, she guessed. Her brother had thought her some manners but oh well. ”You! Get back in the stables, you’re too hurt to even ride, take that horse with you as well. Don’t even think about calling Adrian Airheart, he is my brother and will most likely kill me if he knows that I 1. Took out Streamer for a ride and 2 lost him! Now, shoo!” It was for the best not to get close to anyone, and without further notice the young seventeen year old turned around walking as fast as she could without limping too hard. She had just scratched her leg a little, but she survived, not that it mattered anyway, she had more important things to do. Like finding that horse!
Meanwhile, the stallion had been running while the whole scene occurred. He panted lightly and shook his elegant cranium and slowed down. Streamer snorted heavily, sighed as he came to a halt by a small lake. The lead rope had tangled around his left front leg making it hard to walk so the stallion lay down instead, nipping the soft grass lightly, the sun gleamed in his ebonite coat as he lay down completely, relaxing in the daylight while waiting for his owner to come and help him. He couldn’t really move that much because of the lead rope, but she would find him, he knew she would.

Dean was so glad when he saw her stirring, he wasn’t sure if she should really be trying to sit up and when she grabbed her head and mumbled that her head hurt he was a little more sure she probably shouldn’t . Head injuries could lead to concussion, but she didn’t seem to worry about it and was soon pulling herself to her feet and yelling again, calling out what he guessed was the horses name and then turning on his yelling into his face asking if he knew where the horse was.
His horse was getting edgy again he didn’t like all this screaming but he wasn’t rearing this time, he just shifted his weight a little watching the pair with wary eyes. Dean opened his mouth to answer her when she started talking again cutting him off before he even had a chance to start. Something about don’t worry about it she’ll do it herself and about someone killing her for losing the horse.
Once again Dean tried to open his mouth to tell her that her horse had run off into the woods over there, his arm had began to rise to point to where he meant but once again he was cut off. She was telling him to go back to the stables but not to tell some guy he didn’t know that she had lost the horse, like he even knew her name to tell anyone anything. He was left standing there utterly confused by her behaviour as she stormed off in the wrong direction to go and look for her horse.
He had all but forgotten that he had called the school and they would be sending help to the field as he grabbed the reigns of Perry and urged him to walk after the girl, for someone with a punctured diaphragm Dean was still pretty fast on his feet and was soon caught up to her.
“A. your going the wrong way, as I was trying to say before you kept cutting me off your horse took off into those tree’s, B. if you really want to catch up with him your going to need a horse, he was running pretty fast. And C. before jumping to conclusions about people let them speak would ya, now come on Perry might be a bit slower with two ridders but it will still be faster then either of us can walk, so just let me help.”
He spoke as he put out a gentle hand to stop her before shifting it to point in the direction she should be heading if she wanted to find her horse, and although his insides hurt like absolute hell, he was too much of a gentleman to walk away and leave her to find the horse herself after all she had hit her head pretty hard.
“You right up front that way you can lead Perry and I can make sure you don’t get any more hurt if you decide to go out of it again from that bang on the head.”
He was all set to help her up into the saddle of his new stallion and sit behind the saddle, that way as well his grimaces of pain would be behind her back and he wouldn’t feel quite so pathetic about showing pain in front of a girl.

The dizziness was surrounding her a little and she had to let out some more breath. Maybe she should wait just a little minute? Head shook, no she had to find the horse, the lead rope could have tangled around his feet. What if he was injured!? Oh god! She was truly dead this time. Stumbling a little forth the young teen tried to walk in a straight line but failed miserably when she was suddenly stopped by a gentle hand. She listened to his words a little and looked to where he was pointing. Blushing rather lightly she looked dazed to the tree direction. Ok, well she was told that there was a lake nearby, but now how far away from the forest. Oh well, however as she listened to his words about riding his horse she put her slender fingers to hush him down. Her eyes sparkled rather softly but they were still stern, but just a little.
”I can’t take you up on that offer. Really, you’re nice and all but even I can see the pain you’re trying to hide. Go to your horse and back to the barn. I’ll be fine even with this bump and besides. Streamer won’t hurt me; he has probably laid himself down and relaxing waiting for me as we speak.” She tried to speak confident and softly enough to just hide something, she just didn’t know what, but she knew that she couldn’t take them with her. Even if it were faster with Perry, she knew her horse well enough to know that he wasn’t that far away from them, he never was. Giving a calm smile she turned and walked towards the forest, her eye sight was a little blurry but she hadn’t gotten a big bump so she survived. She knew animals were unpredicted, but the feeling of getting thrown off right after you had yelled at another gave her pride and that was something she wouldn’t give up, not in a million years.
A good thing when it came to walking in the forest was that she had some support, she leaned lightly on the trees around her, taking a step at a time, and noticed where he had been running. Of course, she wasn’t a tracker and couldn’t see the difference between a panic-struck stride and a calm stride, but just went with the flow and followed the line her horse had left behind him. The sun had already risen in the middle of the sky so she had to get him back before night fell and the instructors checked on the horses. ”Oh come on Streamer, where are you hiding. Give me at least something.” Roselyn muttered under her breath and she finally got out of the forest. What was her first sight? Oh, well it was nothing more but a dark golden head looking at her rather impatiently.
Roselyn Airheart couldn’t help but laugh out loud, too glad to get angry at the horse, and too tired to yell at him. Getting down slowly but surely to the horse she noticed how he tried to get up but couldn’t. ”Easy boy, easy, I’m getting you out of there. Calm down now.” The horse snorted softly and sighed in relief when she let her palm and fingers touched his ebonite coat. The horse shivered lightly by the touch and laid his head down to the ground. She smiled at his movement, but noticed the lead rope and went to the other side, without much difficulty the young teen got the lead rope untangled and mounted him while he was on the ground. ”Come on, let’s get up shall we.” The air was silent for just a minute.
She listened to him snort before he rose without much difficulty, her weight was balanced and straight lined and she leaned down to his neck, tired and having a hell of a headache. The stallion flicked his ears twice before walking slowly unsure of what to do, but his fluid steps was a soft float, she would never get hurt when it came to him, well unless you were a weird thing suddenly striking him on the leg that was. But then again, she still had her savior, whom she totally blew herself up in front of, again. God, she was such an idiot, well she deserved to be one, right Dean?

Dean stood for a moment mouth agape as he watched her change course and head into the woods in the direction he had pointed, she was a stubborn one. Here he was offering to help and she turned him down even though she obviously couldn’t even walk in a straight line, and he saw her leaning on the trees as she made her way forward who did she think she was kidding he may be hurt but he could walk better then she could.
He stood there for a moment totally in shock at her stubbornness, but then he started off toward the woods Perry trailing behind he could be stubborn too. He had just reached the tree line when he heard someone calling out behind him, god what was it with the people around here and yelling out around horses. He turned and then realised that it must have been the person the school sent to help.
“Where’s the girl that fell?”
The guy asked as he drew closer.
“She woke up and ran off to find her horse, I’m going in after her to make sure she doesn’t hurt herself any more, can you take my horse back to the stables?”
Dean said as he handed the guy the reigns before walking into the woods without waiting for an answer, again Dean can be stubborn too. It didn’t take him long to note the tracks of the horse that he knew had ran off in this direction and he guessed the girl would have seen and followed them too. So off he set, keeping a pretty good pace considering he was finding it harder and harder to breathe the further he went and every now and then he would step wrong and he would feel the pain of his rib jarring into him again.
“Damn thing”
He mumbled to himself as he continued in the woods, the walk seemed to take for absolute ever and he was rather shocked that he hadn’t caught sight of her yet, had that guy in the clearing really kept him for going after her for that long? He was sure his pace was faster then hers surely he should have caught up with her by now right?
Finally he caught sight of movement up ahead and as he drew closer he realised it wasn’t just the girl but the horse and well and she was mounted and moving toward him back through the woods, he breathed a sigh of relief and instantly regretted it, it hurt!
He didn’t want to startle either her or the horse and decided to wait where he was rather then continue to approach he guessed it would be better if they found him waiting there rather then him seeming to jump out of the woods at them as they made their way through it. After all where he was they would soon see him and from a way off so they shouldn’t be spooked by it, the last thing he wanted was to see the horse spook and throw her off again. So instead he leant against a nearby tree and waited concentrating on catching his breath in small uneven breathes.

Time could stand still for all she cared, the way the stallion, no her stallion moved was amazing. His walk seemed to float as he made one step at a time, like he was reassuring himself, was she alright? It didn’t hurt like this? Grey, blue mixed eyes smiled lovingly and she ruffled his everlasting long mane, the horse snorted lightly and set up his speed. The lean trot made him dance in circles as they went around and around. The everlasting feeling of being free made her more brave, or stupid, call it whatever you wanted but she knew, she could. Ears flicked back hearing the tongue click and he moved forward. Fingers twirled within his mane as he danced off, the collective fleet that made him special, made him the horse she had fallen in love with four years ago. She could remember it like it had been yesterday.
She was just turning thirteen when she saw the notice. “Black colt just off the market, buy him now or you’ll regret it later!” Short blonde hair rustled with the wind as she ran to her brother, he was in the newly made little “stable” grooming the four year old mare. Adrian! Adrian! See what I found!” With eyes shimmering she gave the paper to a rather annoyed older brother. He looked at her and then at the notice and sighed heavily. Eyes grew soft when he looked back at her. “Alright, we’ll take a look, but don’t get your hopes up ok?” She almost shrieked but didn’t, just jumped and threw herself at him in the air. Running back she got the car keys and sat herself in waiting for him, making the horn shout until he finally came.
The little drive of only thirty minutes had seemed like hours. And as they noticed the head bored her heart sank. “Andalusian Dreams.” No way! Not him!? Her brother parked the car and as the young girl jumped out and walked to the crowd she noticed him. He was already big at that point, standing proudly at fifteen point two hands. His scattered mane was everywhere but you could see his bloodline in it. He was wild and snorted heavily looking at everyone with ears nervously flicking, you could tell that he had hardly been handled but she didn’t care, she wanted him. Searching around she found her brother, he was already talking with the owner of the colt and as she slowly neared she heard the conversation. “30 grand! No more, no less! His purebred for god’s sake!” Her eyes grew watery and her heart felt heavy when she heard her brother say it. “We’ll do it like this then, you give me that colt and within a half year I’ll give you at least 40 grand, deal?” She saw how the owner hesitated, but he took the deal and they took the proud with them home.
It was still a mystery how her brother got the money, but she worked hard to at least pay him half of what he had given to the man. But the pay had worked off; with some of the money both of them earned through shows they had done it. The deal was done and Streamer was hers. But as she felt her freedom slip away from her she could see him. And just then she remembered everything that had happened with a flash. Giving a light nudge the stallion gave off a snort but did as he was told and cantered towards the young male. Really, that guy was stubborn as hell. She had to sigh before giving a little smile to herself before they came near him, he had guts and wasn’t a wimp, that was for sure. She admired him, but just a little.
As they arrived smoothly to his side Roselyn came to the ground easily. She pulled the lead rope towards the ground a couple of times before the horse went to his knees slowly. Patting his neck her eyes went towards the blonde teen, no chance he was going to walk back. ”Get up; I won’t say it more than once. This won’t be payback for what you’ve done but just get on him, he won’t bite and seeing as you’re in pain I’m not letting you walk back.” Her words and voice was calmer then she had expected it to be, but she was more satisfied with that then anything else. For all that it mattered things could go wrong at any second, but at least this time, she would have control over her horse. Or so she could hope, aye?

Leaning against the tree Dean was finally able to catch his breath a little and although it still hurt like hell he knew that within another 4 hours… or so it would be fine again, well as fine as it ever was that is. His mind wandered a little as he waited, his thoughts turning to his new horse Persephone and he knew that as soon as the girl got to where he was and he assured himself she was alright he would head back and make sure his Perry was settling in well.
He didn’t have to wait too long before the ebonite stallion and the girl, who he still didn’t know the name of, were standing in front of him. He watched as in one fluid movement the girl landed on the ground beside him, eyes looked on as she pulled the lead rope down and the stallion lowered himself to his knees. It was then that he realised what she was trying to do, and he just grinned at her as she spoke, did she seriously think he was going to make him ride on her horse when she wouldn’t let him help her? Yer Right! Was all he could think as she spoke.
“Thanks but saying more then once isn’t necessary I’ll walk back thanks, a little pain never stopped me.”
He said with a grin on his features, and seeing as she dismounted with ease he had assured himself that she was doing just fine now and pushed himself away from the tree and started back down the trail toward the stable. He managed too keep his cocky grin until his back was too her then he let the grimace show. Before he walked too far though he pulled his features back into a grin and turned too face her.
“Catch ya round … uhh sorry whats your name anyway?”
He said he was going to do his usual catch ya round Roselyn routine before walking off back to the stable but he got stuck when he remembered that he didn’t know her name. They had exchanged verbal abuse, they had exchanged mutual offers of help but they hadn’t exchanged names.

She was stunned, no more than stunned, shocked. Here she was, trying to actually be nice and what did he do? Give her a fake grin and say that he could handle it. Oh no! Don’t you give that to her. The horse sensed that something changed and stood up, only to be easily pulled forth in a trot and halt in front of the guy. She noticed the grimace and puffed out her chest, still a little dizzy but she managed. ”Oh don’t give me that crap! Get your pretty but on that horse, it’ll go faster and less painful, now go!” She didn’t yell; just spoke, rather loudly while eyes were dangerously close to his. She would take her finger to his side making it hurt even more if she had to. She could be stubborn as well if he didn’t believe her.
The way he asked about her name however didn’t even make her blink a minute, she just leaned back a little standing firmly with the horse behind her. Taking a couple of deep breaths eyes closed for a second before opening again. She shot a glance to him before speaking the calmest vocals she could hold, for now. ”I’ll say my name after you’ve gotten back to the stable and checked your ribs, even if you know what it is.” She sighed as a headache struck her mind, leaning against the horse a little more she couldn’t help but wonder why she was stuck with this guy of all. They had both ticked each other off, but really couldn’t they just do truce for this little once? She was too tired to even think and was going to go straight into bed, after she had brushed her horse and checked on that guy of course. But oh well, if he would even let her help that is.

So she was going to be stubborn about this was she? Well obviously that’s a trick question because she had already headed him off with the stallion and wouldn’t even tell him her name unless he agreed to letting her help. As far as he is concerned though she could be as stubborn as she liked, he could be even more stubborn when pushed to it.
“That’s fine if you don’t want to tell me your name I’ll just have to call you hot head”
He said with fiend indifference, despite all the head butting between him and this girl he was rather impressed with her determination. He had to admit of all the girls he had already met at this school since arriving this morning this one was the most interesting of them all. And as much as that one this morning was cute and all, she didn’t have the same grim determination of this one. And damn! She did look pretty damn hot in that striped top and tight jeans.
“Tell ya what, since we both seem to be stubborn hot heads how about a little compromise? You let me walk back to the stables, and I’ll let you ride”
He said easily with a grin before he sidestepped the horse and its owner and headed back toward the stable on foot, it wasn’t that long of a walk and besides last time he hurt himself like this he walked a hell of a lot further then that so he wasn’t going to seem like a wimp now and accept a ride.
“Catch ya at the stables hot head”
His grin as he walked on was genuine, even if it was masking grimaces of pain, he was generally happy in a way. He couldn’t help thinking about the girl as he walked off toward the stable he wondered how long it would take her to ride ahead of him again and if she would try and make him ride back again or give up. Dean had already decided that later on once his side wasn’t hurting him like hell he would like to run into her again.

Fist clenched and she closed her eyes to steady her breath. She absolutely hated being called a hothead, not only because it was true but because it was a fact that her father had given her, and not herself. Sighing deeply she felt how her muscles were sore and had to release just a light grimace, but hid it quite well. Shaking her head awake eyes looked up at the male she took a deep breath before releasing her words. ”Fine have it your way, but you have to figure out the name for yourself.” Really, she did not care whether she rode or not but just shrugged, tapping at the stallions side the horse moved away letting the older male have it his way. Her blonde hair was in the way for her emotions as her leg had started throbbing, her head hurt and her middle part had gotten sore all over thanks to that throw off. She eyed how he walked, trying to hide the pain but grinning nonetheless. Well at least some was lucky, now weren’t they?
Her eyelids felt heavy and she rested her head against the horse a little trying to ease the heavy and rather groggy feel, she awoke right after and mounted the horse. Streamer sensed that something where wrong, with ears flicking rather nervously they moved forward in a walk. Cranium lowered as he walked slowly, trying to feel the weight that was upon his back. Roselyn couldn’t help but smile lightly and stroke his neck. ”Ok boy, show me what you’ve got.” Kicking him easily on the side, he reared up but this time she had control and felt how he pulled forth. Ears pinned and pointed as he cantered with fully stretched strides easily. She felt how the wind brushed past her and caressed her cheek lightly. She loved it. She felt like she could fly and she felt completely free, finally.
However, that freedom would soon be taken away from her, as her eyes opened she saw the familiar car parked, the dark haired male that was standing in front of the barn was dangerous and she pulled her horse up. He got surprised by her sudden move and half reared before he slowed down to a walk and walked towards the familiar male. They passed Dean, but she didn’t look at him, eyes were still heavy and her whole presence was rather, dirty. As her brother noticed them she could see his expressions clearly, first furious, then shocked and at last, worried sick. Adrian walked to her side and helped her down; he would give her the beaten later. Streamer looked as handsome as ever, but his little sister was another case. Her striped long sleeved top was dirty, blood covered her knee and legs and he could clearly see, her head wasn’t right either.
”You young lady can go straight in the car. I’ll drive you to the hospital, there weren’t any other people injured? Really Rose, you had to ride him almost right after we had gotten here.” She heard how he sighed and couldn’t help but giggle as she leaned against him. ”He was bored! And so was I, fine I’ll go in the car and there was one but his more stubborn then me and I think he’s ok. But I don’t know anything right now. Let me be.” She pushed him to get some support and walked to the car, opening it she felt like a dump when she sat down. Ah, my head is killing me, I want to go home and sleep. Adrian watched her walk and couldn’t help but pat the stallion softly. ”Come on big guy; let’s get you in the stall.” Leading the horse in his stall he took off the halter and closed the stall door and almost walked straight at the other younger male but he saw him just enough to go around but stopped.
The male frowned and looked at the student. His words slipped just as easy as they always would. ”You must be the stubborn guy Rose talked about, I’m driving her to the hospital. Want me to give you a lift as well?” He wasn’t as stubborn as his sister, not when the other part probably knew what they were doing. If he felt he knew better then that was another case. But he wouldn’t call it being stubborn; he would call it being patient. And that was something he had, patience, and he had a lot of it. Now what will you do Dean? Take the offer and sit beside that pretty hothead? Or be a stubborn brat and say, ah no I’m alright and then walk away and maybe you won’t see her for a couple of more, weeks? Aye?
